BAUMEISTER Herb
Secret Life of a Serial Killer
For 5 years, Herbert Baumeister lived with his wife and three children in an exclusive suburb of Indianapolis. For 5 years at least this ""model citizen"" seduced and killed gay men, burying their remains in the backyard of his million-dollar estate. Explore the double life of a murderer who managed to hide his atrocities longer, and from many more people, than almost any other killer. Hear from his wife of 20 years, who had no inkling that her husband was burying victims 15 feet from their backdoor...

LUCAS Henry Lee & OTIS Toole
Henry - Portrait of a Serial Killer
Though not exceedingly gory in light of the excesses of such fantasy horrors as the Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street series, director John McNaughton's straightforward presentation and documentary-like style creates a chilling realism that many viewers will find hard to watch. McNaughton neither comments on nor flinches at the brutal violence, which reaches its apex in a disturbing camcorder-eye view of a particularly sadistic murder of a middle-class couple, with Henry and Otis smiling through the deed as they record it for their continued pleasure...

Myth of a Serial Killer - The Henry Lee LUCAS Story
When drifter Henry Lee Lucas confessed to hundreds of aimless murders in the mid-eighties, it opened one of the most incredible cases in the annals of justice. He provided details of crimes nationwide which led to over 200 murder cases nationwide. But later independent investigations suggested that Lucas's claims were bogus, and argued that he had been fed information for his confessions by the Texas Rangers. Yet another investigation, by the Texas Attorney General, reached the same conclusion. Lucas then recanted all his confessions, claiming that he had made his outrageous claims to expose law enforcement and prove that ""they don't do their job."

MANSON Charles Milles
Helter Skelter (1976)
Based on the bestselling book by Vincent Bugliosi, the two-part TV movie Helter Skelter is a clinical but often chilling recount of the arrest and trial of Charles Manson and his cult for a pair of horrific murders in 1969. Character actor George DiCenzo is a bit dry as prosecutor Bugliosi, who must patch together a series of far-flung clues to incarcerate Manson for the murder spree, which claimed the life of actress Sharon Tate..

SPECK Richard
Speck
Based on the murderous rampage of serial killer Richard Speck, SPECK details the murder of 8 nursing students in a Chicago dormitory on July 13, 1966.

STARKWEATHER & FUGATE Caril Ann
Natural Born Killers
Oliver Stone would like to have the last word on America's media culture of voyeurism and violence, but whatever he's trying to say in this grisly, unconventional movie comes across terribly garbled. Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis play traveling serial killers who become television celebrities when a Geraldo-like personality (Robert Downey Jr.) turns their madness into the biggest story in the country...

WUORNOS Aileen Carol
Aileen - Life & Death of a Serial Killer
"We have evil in us, all of us do, and my evil just happened to come out because of the circumstances," said serial killer Aileen Wuornos in an interview conducted shortly before her execution in 2002. Director Nick Broomfield, in this sequel to his previous documentary Aileen Wuornos: The Selling of a Serial Killer, delves further into Wuornos's horrific childhood (including an interview with her biological mother) and follows the appeals process as her case goes through its final efforts...

Aileen Wuornos - The Selling of a Serial Killer
Chilling, disturbing, and maddening, this documentary examines the life of America's first female serial killer after her incarceration. Documentarian Nick Broomfield interviews a rather pathetic Aileen Wuornos, looking wan in her orange prison jumpsuit and sounding none too bright. Those around her, including her eccentric, born-again Christian lawyer, come across as moral criminals, using and abusing the media limelight for personal gain. Known for exposing the creepy and the crass, Broomfield simply turns on his camera and steps back...

Monster
Critics have universally praised Charlize Theron's performance in Monster, and the praise, for once, is astonishingly deserved. The gorgeous star of The Italian Job and The Cider House Rules vanishes into the character of Aileen Wuornos, a real-life serial killer and prostitute who murdered at least seven men in Florida. Monster traces her relationship with a young woman named Selby (Christina Ricci, The Ice Storm, Buffalo 66), which intertwines with Wuornos's murder spree...

Serial Killer or Victim
This excellent documentary about "America's first female serial killer" poses more questions than it answers which is indicative of the quagmire of duplicity that surrounded the case. Aileen was a prostitute convicted of the shooting murder of 7 men in central Florida between 1989 and 1990 and sentenced to death by electric chair. She is a tragic figure since she appeared to be surrounded by people who wanted to see her die and profit from their association with her...
