| Sue Young is hoping some good can come out of the horrifying experience she went through.
Young's daughter, Martha Sue, 19, was the first victim of Lansing-area serial killer Donald Miller in 1977.
She still won't talk about details of the crime itself or her emotions from the time her daughter disappeared until her body was found 2 1/2 years later. She lets her new book, "Lethal Friendship" do that for her.
Instead, Young, who now lives in Haslett, is speaking out on the lessons that came out of the experience.
"There was so much pain," she said. "It would be a mistake to waste all of that pain that has been paid for and not try to do something with it. I don't want any other mother or daughter to ever again experience what I went through."
