William Sapp's murder convictions and death sentence upheld..The Ohio Supreme Court on Wednesday said a man was properly sentenced to death for killing three people even though the second crime - a single murder - happened almost a year after the first, a double homicide...In 1999, William K. Sapp was found guilty of killing two little girls and a young woman...The court ruled 6-1 in favor of the conviction and death sentence of William K. Sapp of Clark County in the 1992 rape and slaying of two girls, Phree Morrow, 12, and Martha Leach, 11, and the 1993 rape and killing of Brenda Anderson, 33...Justice Francis Sweeney, writing for the majority, said there was enough evidence to show that Sapp, 42, killed the three during a single course of conduct...Sweeney says the victims were assaulted and killed in the same way and that evidence shows Sapp committed each murder for pleasure...In addition, "in each case, Sapp perceived one of the victims as having provoked him somehow," Sweeney said...Justice Paul Pfeifer dissented. Anderson's murder "occurred over a year after and was not related in any way to the murders of Morrow and Leach," he wrote...The State Supreme Court upheld the convictions and death sentence stating that despite the elapsed time, Sapp committed the crimes with striking similarity...Sapp remains on death row at Mansfield Correctional Institute...His execution date has not been set..
